Wrinkly Bits
A Blog/Poem by Gail Cushman
Ten Lords a-Leaping. Fancy that. Montana has no lords. Period. They have cowboys, who are Lords of the Range. So, I thought I should write a poem about Montana’s Lords.
Ode to Montana Lords, AKA Cowboys
The lords of Montana, in other words, Cowboys
Are handsome and rugged, and always a joy
Everyone knows they are polite and kind.
Hard working and generous, is how they’re defined.
They work on the range from dawn until night
Pulling calves, feeding cows, keeping the bulls in sight
It’s a profession for the hardy, there is no other
To love what you do, and life rediscover.
These Lords of the west, don’t jump, bounce, or leap
They ride on a horse, or sometimes in a Jeep.
The duties are hard, but promises they keep
At the end of the day, they have time to sleep.
I married a cowboy, he is quite a man
Church-going, honest, and always gives a hand.
He’s the lord in my life, and he doesn’t have to leap
Walking is just fine and I think this cowboy I’ll keep!
Eleven Pipers Piping comes up tomorrow…not a poem, though!
The Wrinkly Bits series will make you laugh! It was my first series, but not my last. Audrey, Griff, and Logan have things to do, places to see. They are in their second printing! Go figure. Available from my website gailcushman.com or on Kindle or Kindle Unlimited.
